Pros
Price – this is not an expensive device at all.
Built quality – this is a simple device, but it seems to be well-built.
Easy to set up – It’s very easy to pair this device with a smartphone/tablet and connect it to your WiFi network.
Easy to operate – the responsiveness of the light was immediate in 99% of the times I got to test this device. The “EWeLink” application is easy to navigate and control the device, including additional features such as “Schedule” mode.
The application “EWeLink” is available on both Appstore and Google Play store – The app seems to be reliable and doesn’t crash, will work with multiple devices (by ITEAD the manufacturer, not sure about other brands).
You can operate the light manually – You can do that by pressing the black button that also pairs this device.
Cons
Shutting the light switch prevents this device from operating – If the light switch is off, then you won’t be able to control this device.
Another issue that stems from shutting the power switch off is that right after you turn it on, the WiFi connection will restart, which can take several moments until the device goes back to normal. When this happens, I ask myself, “Why didn’t I just use the power switch, and that’s it….”.
If the device is placed on the ceiling, then you cannot operate it manually – In certain scenarios, you might need to use the manual button in the device, so if the device is not reachable it can be a problem.
The EweLink app is still not completely “baked” – This issue can be solved in a future update, but currently I’m not sure if there’s a big difference between the “Schedule” & “Timer” modes.
Cannot control the device from Windows 10 – Another issue that I encountered is that this device can only operate using an app that is available only on mobile devices/tablets.
It would be much appreciated if there would be an easy way to control it using a computer (in my case, the operating system is Windows 10). Probably that is (or will be) a solution to that as well.
