Summary:

The Nespresso Citiz is an espresso machine with a classic design. It doesn’t offer too many features like other more sophisticated machines, but its simplicity is what makes it so great.

The brand: Nespresso
The model: CitiZ

The pros:

Classic design – There’s a reason why this model stays around for so long.

I love how the Citiz look. It is slim but everything is in the right size (capsules container, water tank, drip tray) and my the overall feeling is that it can fit into places that other Nespresso machines this size won’t fit (excluding the smaller Nespresso Essenza Mini).

Fits tall glasses – Thanks to its height, the Citiz allows to use a variety of glasses with it during the preparation of coffee, including relatively tall glasses.

The distance between the coffee outlet & the base is bigger compared to machines such as the Nespresso Inissia, Nespresso Pixie & the Nespresso Essenza Mini.

This factor is relevant if you consider a Nespresso machine that generates espresso only (no milk, no water, etc.).

Reasonable water tank – The Citiz water tank’s size is 1.0 liter, which is the right size for my coffee drinking habits.

A small water tank requires to fill it more often, and maintenance is something you need to take into consideration when choosing the right Nespresso machine for you.

Reasonable capsules container – On average, I use 11 capsules before emptying the capsules container. Some machines that are capable of storing this quantity requires you to fight with the capsules drawer, while others don’t. The Citiz is one of those that don’t…

This is also a parameter that you should consider as part of the maintenance of the machine.

The cons:

It is overshadowed by the newer Nespresso models – Though the Citiz’s design is updated every several years, it seems that Nespresso prefers to promote other models that are released to the market.

The price isn’t that cheap compared to other models – For a “stupid” Nespresso machine that allows you to prepare only espresso drinks, it is more expensive than other models (such as the Nespresso Inissia, Nespresso Essenza Mini, etc.).
