Pros
Good video quality
Built-in privacy lens shutter – Insead of disconnecting the camera, removing or turning it away or having to use a seperate cover as a solution for privacy, this built in sliding shutter is a good solution. Though the lens get your fingerprints.
Quality power cable – the USB-A to USB-C cable is 2 meters long. Elgato claims it is durable and it does seem like it.
Excellent mount – articulate and detachable mount that can sit on most monitors without minimum interference. It can also be removed completely with ease. This reveals a 1/4″ theread for standard tripods.
Supportive software/app – The “Elgato Camera Hub” is a free software for Windows and Mac that you need to install it to adjust the webcam’s settings and controls it. Most chances you will need to play with the settings until you will reach a good video quality, but it is a relatively friendly software. Please note that in order to record video, you need to use a separate software (or app), but there are many available options. So far I’ve been using the built in Windows 11 camera app, OBS and conference services such as zoom. It isn’t required to run the Elgatdo Camera Hub in the background, unless you wish to keep adjusting the settings and presets. The Facecam remembers the settings, even after restarting or switching the computer. Using a computer with NVIDIA RTX GPU will enable additional features, including virtual backgrounds, face tracking, and simulate eye contact.

Cons
Price – With a MSRP of $149.99 this is not a cheap webcam. There are alternatives that might offer a good video quality and even features that are missing from this one, such as a built-in microphone, for less. However, you get here a quality product from a familiar brand, and every once in a while there is a discount on this model.
