Here is a video review I made of the COWIN E7 Active Noise-Canceling Bluetooth headphones:
Summary:
The brand: COWIN
The model: E7
This popular Bluetooth headset is available for several years and offers Active Noise Cancellation for an affordable price.
The COWIN E7 comes inside a nice protective box with all the familiar accessories that you usually receive with a headset (see details below).
Its build quality is OK and it seems durable. There’s padding across the arc, which is extendable, and around the adjustable earphones.
The control buttons are located on the right earphone (including a multi-functional button and the modes switch), while the charging port is on the left earphone.
The headset generates good audio quality, but there are 2 issues with it:
Let’s say it does the job, but it is far from offering a unique sound experience.
- The bass is a bit dull.
- The overall result goes into my ears and lacks the surround feeling.
For some reason, the COWIN E7 is labeled as “headphones”, but it has a built-in microphone, and you can use it for making phone calls – so I perceive it as a “headset”. And from the several people that I spoke with using this headset, it seems to work well.

The pros:
The Active Noise Cancellation is surprisingly effective – It will be hard for me to convince people who use premium headsets/headphones with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), that this headset’s ANC is worth the money.
The reason is that on premium models (such as the Bose QuietComfort 35 II) the ANC is in a different standard of isolation from your environment, and has an immediate “WOW” effect. But you need to pay 4-5 times more for this kind of pleasure.
And yet, there is a noticeable difference when enabling the ANC switch in the COWIN E7. It silences external sounds (such as me singing or clapping my hands), without degrading the audio quality too much. The Bass loses its impact, but the sacrifice is worth it, and you get used to the ANC quickly.
Comfortable during a long use – From the moment I wore the headset, it felt quite convenient. The grip is a bit tight, but the headset has several adjustable parts that allow to set it to the right size and position.
I’ve been using the headset during several bus rides, that lasted 2-3 hours each, and it didn’t put any pressure during or after these rides.
As an adult person with a relatively big head, I estimate that most people will feel comfortable with the COWIN E7, including those who might be sensitive to pressure on their head like I do.
It supports NFC – You can connect this headset easily with devices that support NFC, by tapping on the right earphone (Just make sure that the power switch isn’t set to “off”).
The cons:
The feeling of the materials is a bit “cheap” – Don’t get me wrong. I think the COWIN E7 looks fine and the build quality is good.
But the headphones are made from plastic that looks & feels cheap in my opinion. Also, although the arc is comfortable, the padding is minimal, and I can feel the metal more than the padding itself.
The ANC suffers from disturbances – At first, I noticed there are disturbances while I was riding the bus. I don’t know what was the exact trigger that caused it, but it sounded like a “bump” (as if someone hits you in the head) that stopped the audio from playing for a brief second. Since it happened several times one after the other, it was a bit annoying.
Another thing I noticed is that when I move my head fast from side to side, there is a disturbance in the sound, that doesn’t occur when the ANC is disabled.
The battery life could be better – Battery life is subject to several parameters, but the way I use headsets is usually the same.
Currently, I feel that the battery runs out faster compared to other headsets that I’ve been using so far, but this is more of a gut feeling and not something that I tested with a stopwatch.
- As long as I’m using the COWIN E7, I will keep following the battery’s performance, and if I will notice any difference, I update this info.
The “leather-like” storage bag isn’t that practical – At first glimpse, the carry bag looked prestigious and I thought it should be mentioned in the “pros” section.
But I gave it a second thought and realized that this isn’t the most practical storage solution for a headset.
It is a bit cushioned, but I prefer a hard-shell case that is more protective. Alternately, I’d prefer a cloth bag that will allow me to go over the headset if it gets dirty or sweaty.
Also, it feels as if you need to squeeze the headset to fit into this bag properly.
