Pros

Price – This is an affordable wireless microphone from a familiar brand.

Relatively audio quality – I uploaded a separate video with a sound test so that you can listen to the sound quality of the BOYA BY-WM4.

I was pleasantly surprised by the audio quality of this wireless microphone. In my opinion, it will do a decent job for various purposes, such as an interview, video, or lecture.

Easy to use – Operating this microphone isn’t complicated. All you need to is insert 2 AA batteries (one for the transmitter and one for the receiver), turn the kit on, and you should be able to start recording.

If the signal disconnects, it is easy to retrieve the wireless connection by turning off & on again the devices.

Compatible with various devices – You can use the BOYA BY-WM4 with smartphones (Android & iOS), cameras (DSLR, Mirrorless, etc.), computers (Windows/Mac OS), tablets, recording devices, etc.

Comes with a quality hard case – The case is light, compact, and of good quality.

Cons

Not suitable for professional productions – The audio quality is still inferior to more expensive wireless microphones by well-known brands, and compared to wired microphones (such as the BOYA BY-M1, as I demonstrated in my video review).

Signal reliability – Most of the time, the microphone worked well, especially when I’ve been shooting in the same room. Although the signal didn’t suffer from noticeable disturbances, it did disconnect several times suddenly.

The main reason was that I got too far from the transmitter. Also, there were a few times that the signal disconnected during the recording for several moments.

The best way to cope with it is to monitor the recording by connecting external headphones to the receiver. Unfortunately, when recording on your own, it is not always possible to do that.
