Via Amazon:
Summary:
The brand: AmazonBasics
The model: LJ-PCM-001
The pros:
Price when it is discounted – Since this microphone is part of the AmazonBasic line of product, this is an exclusive Amazon product. Sometimes you can find this microphone on sale, and when it happens, this is an excellent bargain for a Blue Yeti clone (I managed to purchase it for less than $50).
Audio Quality – I’ve been listening to audio that was recorded using this microphone in each of the 4 available modes, and it sounds good.
You can watch my videos of this microphone, and have an impression how is the audio quality (let me know what you think by posting a comment).
Build Quality – The microphone is made from solid metal (both the microphone and the mount), and it seems to be as durable as the Blue Yeti, which is a good thing.
It can be used with any USB-to-MicroUSB cable – I managed to use a standard USB-to-MicroUSB cable with this microphone, which makes life much easier is the cable is damaged, or if you want to use a longer/shorter cable.
If you own a Blue Yeti, then you probably know that it is using a designated USB cable.
The height can be extended up to 40mm – Though I don’t know how many people will find it useful, I didn’t encounter this feature on other microphones that I tested so far, including the similar Blue Yeti.
The cons:
Price when not on sale – As I explained in the “Pros” section, Amazon plays a lot with the price of this microphone. When it isn’t discounted, the price is relatively high, and in this case, it is more logical to get the Blue Yeti or any other quality USB microphone by an established brand.
Hard to tell what is the microphone’s gain level – Although you can set the volume level by pressing the +/- buttons on the microphone, the volume level is shown only on the computer.
The Blue Yeti, for instance, has a manual gain switch, which makes it easier to determine if you are on max/min level.
This is a Blue Yeti clone – If it looks like the Blue Yeti, Sounds like the Blue Yeti and feels like the Blue Yeti, then why not just get the real thing and that’s it…!?
