Summary
The Edifier G2000 is a set of two audio speakers, that allows both wired & wireless connections. You can connect the set to your computer, smartphone, TV, tablet & other Bluetooth devices. It is compact, offers a modern design, and has good sound quality. You can switch manually between three pre-defined audio modes – “Music Mode”, “Game Mode”, and “Movie Mode”. Also, it has RGB lights with 12 different modes. As computer speakers for a small room, they will be a great fit. You can add a subwoofer and transform the G2000 into a 2.1 audio set.

Product Details
Model: G2000 (Note – I also found this model under the name “Hecate G2000”)
Brand: Edifier
Compact Hi-Fi computer audio speakers, that can connect wirelessly via Bluetooth connection or using a cable – either Aux cable (line-in 3.5mm) or USB cable. Its power output is 16W RMS (according to Edifier the Peak Power is 32W RMS). In addition, the speakers have RGB lights, 3 mode equalizer & can connect to a subwoofer.
Pros
Attractive design – The more I look at the Edifier G2000, the more I like it. It looks modern, yet it is practical, so although it eyes gaming users, the overall design is not exaggerated. This makes the G2000 relevant to other potential users.
In the center-front is located a 2.75″ woofer with the “H” logo on it. From what I know, the “H” is for “Hecate”, a line of several edifier products intended for gaming purposes. However, I didn’t manage to find too many details about it while working on this review.
You can choose one of 12 RGB light modes, and if you don’t like it, then turn the light off. The RGB lights are located at the back of the speakers, so the light reflects on the surface behind it, and this can add to the overall atmosphere in the room.
Compact measurements – The Edifier G2000 doesn’t take up too much space. Thanks to the wireless connection you can place the speakers across the room.
Good audio quality – According to the technical specs of the Edifier G2000, its overall power output is 16W RMS, and the overall peak power is 32W RMS.
If we translate the numbers into practical use in real life, I would say that the G2000 will fit well in a 3*4 meter room (normal bedroom or a small living room).
It fills the whole room with sound and the volume level is noticeable in the room itself and in the rooms next to it. The bass sounds great up to 70-80 percent of the volume level, but I don’t recommend you raise it to the max. However, you can add a subwoofer to this setup, so there is no need to stretch these speakers.
Subwoofer connection – The Edifier G2000 includes two speakers, but you can add a subwoofer to the back of the active speaker (the one with the controls & the connections), and transform it into a 2.1 speaker setup.
If you plan on getting a matching subwoofer, the Edifier T5 subwoofer can be a good option for you. However, the big bonus here, is that you can use a subwoofer by a different brand.
Wireless connection works great – Although the Edifier G2000 offers a line-in connection & USB connection, I believe most people will use the Bluetooth mode.
There wasn’t any noticeable latency in the sound, and I almost didn’t encounter disturbances in the audio streaming. In the few times it did happen, I was using several electric devices simultaneously, and this probably was the reason for that.
Keep in mind that you need to plug the Edifier G2000 into a power source and that the speakers are connected to each other.
Cons
Manual control of the LED lights – Switching between the 12 RGB modes can be a nuisance because you can go back. If you miss the mode you want, then you have to go through the whole process again.
Equalizer modes – This is a nice feature to have, and sometimes you will notice a difference between the three available sound modes. For example, the bass is more aggressive in “game mode”, and the sound spreads better in “music mode” and “movie mode”.
But sometimes it sounds just the same, and there’s a bigger difference if I adjust the sound through my computer.
Also, I chose to place the speakers away from my computer. This means that if I want to change the audio mode, I have to get up to do that. And since I’m using my computer for various purposes, it requires me to switch the audio modes often.
It leaves fingerprints on it – The materials and the built quality of the Edifier G2000 are good. However, when you touch the plastic surfaces, it leaves noticeable fingerprints on the speakers. Thanks to the black color, it isn’t that noticeable, but because of the manual control, you might touch it often.
Exposed woofers – The woofers have no cover. That is why you probably will have to clean them once in a while. This also means that they are exposed to damage. For instance, if you clean them and press too hard. Fortunately, this didn’t happen to me, but I saw too many people who did that.
There are other alternatives in this price range – Although the Edifier G2000 is a great product, for about the same money it cost, there are other speakers with certain advantages. For instance, the Edifier R980T or Edifier R1280T bookshelf speakers
